Pathé and H20 step big into gaming and esports together

AMSTERDAM, Nov. 25, 2021 -- Pathé and the H20 Esports Campus Amsterdam are joining forces. The largest cinema chain in the Netherlands and Europe's largest campus in the field of gaming and esports are starting a joint venture. This introduces a new concept: Go!Gaming.

Go!Gaming brings gamers, esports players and interested parties together to discover together the fun and excitement of gaming. The experience and self-development are central to this. The concept will be launched this fall at multiple locations across the country. The exact plans will be revealed in the coming weeks via the website www.gogaming.gg and various social media channels.

Pathé and gaming

The Go!Gaming concept fits seamlessly with Pathé's vision of not only providing visitors with their movie needs. It is important to keep innovating and remain relevant to new generations.

Pathé Managing Director Jacques Hoendervangers sees it as the perfect addition to Pathé's current offerings, "Gaming and esports are a logical existence of a cinema visit and it fits perfectly with our concept 'The Cinema of the Future' with a focus on our core target group of 15 to 35 year olds. In the past, Pathé has already done something on a small scale around gaming and esports. Tickets for streams of some esports tournaments were sold out in no time.

Although this clearly showed the interest in this type of activity, this was not the priority at the time. With H20 Esports Campus, Pathé has found a partner that strives for the same top quality and customer experience. Where H20 is already giving substance to this with their Esports Tech Campus and Esports Stadium, they are now joining forces with Pathé to launch Go!Gaming.

H20 Esports Campus

Dirk Tuip, founder of H20 Esports Campus, hopes the partnership will bring more expertise and guidance on esports to the rest of the Netherlands. "Of course we are super happy and proud to partner with a market leader like Pathé. After our launch at the end of 2019, we were hit hard by corona in 2020, but grew hard despite that. We received dozens of requests to bring H20 to other cities, but were looking for scalability and the best experience. Our goal is to create an environment that has the right guidance and expertise so that gamers can meet in an educational and responsible way."

Esports is top sport

Matthijs Vink will lead the project from H20 and, together with Bram van den Broek of Pathé, forms the management of GO!Gaming. According to him, it is important to provide a physical location for coaching esports players. "We felt it was essential that within the new joint concept our vision of developing the current generation of young people would remain intact. After all, at H20 we believe that gamers, esporters and influencers are the developers of the future. As top athletes, we have experienced up close how top sport shapes you, and with H20 we wanted to create a physical place where gaming talent gets the best out of itself. In this, we really see esports as a top sport. With Pathé, we can now really start to give shape to this strategy and activities."

Launching Go!Gaming

This fall, gamers, esports fans and regular Pathé visitors will have the chance to discover the exciting world of Go!Gaming. Bram van den Broek, Pathé operations director, promises that the launch of Go!Gaming will be celebrated in a big way.

"The parties involved are currently working hard to make the concept a reality. In the coming weeks it will be revealed exactly what the concept will look like and of course which location will open its doors to visitors first. This will obviously be a spectacular event accompanied by various activities such as workshops and tournaments. Developments around Go!Gaming can of course be followed via our social media channels."
